Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
.
The preliminary task was a great way of helping us to understand how to make a realistic magazine and get used to the software such as InDesign and Photoshop. If we had gone straight into the main task I think I would have struggled. By analysing the college magazine I understood the conventions that I then took into the main task and incorporated and the production to make it look professional and convincing.
.
In the preliminary task we were guided through different parts of both of the main programs we used; InDesign was difficult to grasp at first but after the initial start, it was more basic than I had thought. I already had Photoshop experience from doing photography AS, but still I improved my skills on it so that when it came to the real product I knew what to do, and how to do it right.
.
Also I have never done a ‘band’ photo-shoot so it was quite hard to think of a good location, lighting, and camera angle for the main production. Obviously the preliminary helped with the organisation of the photo shoot, but the genre I very different still making the main photo shoot challenging.
.
Lastly, by looking back on my preliminary and evaluating it helped me see the faults and what went well, this was critical when it came to my production. Overall I have found this project very fun and I really got my chance of showing my creative capabilities.
